Fun, but Not Allowed!

How embarrassing! Our typist, (that would be our Mom Moxie), got us behind on our blog reporting. We’d like to show some pictures from November and explain why we love leaves, but they don’t like us!

First, we have a lot of trees in our backyard. That means that typist Mom has to get out the leaf blower and clear them out every year.

Once she has a big enough pile, we play in it. See how much fun Tallulah and I are having.

This is a pretty deep pile, so you can see that I’m wading over to get a closer look at Tallulah about to do a roll.

Although I think she’s sometimes jealous that Mom also pays attention to me, too, Tallulah actually loves me.

OK, so what is the problem with us having so much fun in the leaves? There was apparently too much pollen, or something, in the leaves that was bothering our eyes. Both of us had to be taken to the vet to get eye drops. We had conjunctivitis. Tallulah quickly recovered, but I had to see a Veterinary Ophthalmologist. To make a long story short…three different drops had to be put in my eyes, three times a day, for several weeks…and then finally my eyes weren’t red anymore.

What an outrage. Both Vets told our Mom that she had to blow away all the leaves; no more playing in the leaves for us!

“You cannot be serious?!” we pleaded with Mom. So, she kept busy getting rid of all the leaves, and until she could get to certain areas, (that we’re not supposed to be in anyway) she had her green wire fences. However, it seems we found a way to get in…we had fun…until Mom spotted us and had us get out. Bummer.

What fun thing did you enjoy doing that your person(s)/Vet made you stop doing?

  1. Hooray! I’m glad you’re back Moxie Girls! Sorry about the leaves thing, but hey, it beats having to go back to the V-E-T!

  2. Hi, Rumpy. You know, Mom and Dad had trouble figuring out how to put the linky thing into the post. We told them they should just ask you, cause you know it all. But, Mom didn’t want to bother you, and Dad was too proud to admit he couldn’t remember. They finally had more coffee and figured it out! xx

  3. I am pleased that you have both recovered. Conjunctivitis is very painful – tall person has had it and could barely see for days. Like you, he had to have drops in his eyes. The pictures of you both are great and the one of your mom is very funny – at first I thought she had a flamethrower! 🙂

    • Ha! A flamethrower, huh? 🙂 Yes, our mom has apparently had conjunctivitis several times, too, so she was very sympathetic to our yucky eye situation. Thank you so much for taking the time to come and visit our blog, Bassa. We know how busy you are! xx Berner Girls

  4. I’m so glad u girls r back! So sorry bout the eyes though 😦 Now tht its winter u girls can play in the snow. Things I love but vet won’t allow??? Hmmmm…. Chewing unchewable stuff, eating tissue paper n licking the grass??? How’s dad? He doin okay? Tweet u soon girls!!!! 😉

    • Hi, Louie! Thank you, Dad is doing much better now.

Don’t get us sad–no leaves, and no snow!! We don’t know what’s happening with the weather this year, but we’ve only had snow twice this season!! The first was right before Halloween–which we posted about. Then, just once since then. Can you believe it? We love the snow!! Thank you so much for visiting our blog and leaving us a comment. Really appreciate it! x

  5. Aw sorry to hear about the leaf ban! Bet your regular vet and eyeball vet love you too much to want to see you hurt again? Still…bummer!

  6. Hey Berner girls, Jet here. Wow, sorry to learn that your leaf play ended up in visits to the doctor. Mom stopped taking me to our local dog park for a while because every time we went, I ended up with glass in my paws. We had to visit Dr. Schaffer a few times and Mom said it was an expensive playdate. I really like Dr. Schaffer, Judy, Jane and the rest of the staff, as does Mom, but… more for visits than ouchies.

Your Mom sounds really smart, trying to protect you. We don’t have to do the whole leaf thing here in S. Florida, so thanks for posting the pictures.

    • Oh, I’m so sorry to read that about the glass in your paws. That’s very painful to even think about!! I’m glad that you like your Vet/staff, though. Jet, I really appreciate that you took the time to visit our blog and leave us a comment. Take care! xx

  7. Darn vets sometimes spoil all the fun. I was about ready to jump in the leaves with you until you said you weren’t supposed to do it anymore.

    • Well, Bongo, maybe next time mom isn’t looking, you can help us find a way over the green wire fencing again, and sit in the garden leaves with us. 🙂 Thank you so much for visiting! x

  8. Thank you for coming by my blog and glad you are doing better.

  9. Our early spring blog walk last year was just as the pollen was coming out. Lexie had a strong reaction to the pollen and started scratching and pulling her hair out with her teeth. Needless to say her shin was getting very infectedodo we had a trip to the vet. He put her on an antibiotic for the infection, and strong meds for itching. I guess we will have to wait longer for our spring walk this year:(

  10. Evee is allergic to everything, so we feel your pain!! And you two are too cute rolling around and having fun 🙂

  11. Hi Berner Girls – I just found you through Bongo & you surely are beauty queens! Ooopps, scuse me there’s a Berner girl here who wants a word with you…
Hey Ladies – I’m a 6 yr. old Berner girl myself & MY vet said the same thing about leaves after I got all this rashy stuff & my hair started falling out! My favorite thing though is sticks! I love sticks so much & then one time Dad started burning my sticks so I had to save them & then the woods caught on fire, and then there was a lot of screaming & the hose came out… well, you know how it goes. But I took care of the hose. Mom talks about that on her blog under Berner Tails. She’s just back from the oral surgeon today – something about getting a dental implant cause her tooth got knocked out. Don’t know what all the fuss was about, just giving her a kiss & besides, I was fine.

    • Woof!! We are so happy to have you visit and comment. We’re sorry about your mom–and the woods! 🙂 We’re going to visit your blog and give you some cyber belly rubs! xo Berner Girls

  12. Those allergies are horrible. Our Lad suffers from allergies…. Love your blog. Keep up the great work!

    God Bless You!
    the collies and chuck 🙂

    • We are so happy to have you visit. We love your blog and are also friends with Bassa. Thank you so much for your very kind comment! xo Berner Girls
